Frequently asked questions

Do I need any flying knowledge or experience to use the simulator?

No - none at all. We've got a range of flight adventures that cater for people with no prior experience, and all fully-assisted and guided by one of our friendly instructors.

Does the simulator move?

The simulator is 'fixed-base' and not full-motion. However the wrap-around display that you will see through the cockpit windows, the sounds, the vibrations and the whole environment will soon have you believing you are "there".

Does anyone experience motion sickness?

This does happen on rare occasions as your brain may perceive that you are moving when the simulator is actually stationary. This is easily solved by pausing and closing your eyes for a few moments. Note that we don't allow extreme maneuvers so the movements you will perceive are gentle.

What happens if I "crash"?

Well, the good thing about simulators is there is absolutely no harm done. But we provide you with all the guidance you need while at the controls to help prevent that from happening. But if you should contact the ground "a little hard" :) you'll see and feel a jolt, but it won't stop the simulator or your adventure.

Can I do anything I want with the simulator?

We do have some restrictions. For inexperienced flyers we ask you to select from one of the pre-packaged flight adventures. More experienced flyers and real-life pilots can be given more choice - at our discretion. We do' not allow the simulator to be used in ways that simulate violent or illegal acts.

Can I bring friends or family to observe my flight?

Sure! You may bring one observer to sit in the cockpit with you for no extra charge. Observers are not permitted to swap with you in the pilots seat.

If you want to bring extra observers they can watch on the screen in the first-class cabin. We can accommodate up to 6 observers and there is a $5.00 fee for each extra person, which is payable on the day. All observers can enjoy a free espresso on us!

Can I drop in and have a look?

By all means - we have a store and lounge area and you're welcome to have a look around, take a seat and watch the video display. We sometimes put a feed from the cockpit on the display. If the simulator is not in use you can have a peek through the cockpit door, however only paying customers get to go through the door.

Can children use the simulator?

The simulator is complex and expensive, so we have a minimum age limit of 10 years-of-age.

Can people with disabilities use the simulator?

This depends on the mobility of the person. The cockpit is naturally a cramped space, however we have provided extra seating width to allow for greater flexibility. Entry width is a little tight. Please call us to discuss individual needs further.

I have a fear-of-flying - will I be ok?

We'll do everything we can to ensure that you will be fine. This is a surprisingly common issue and our staff have worked with customers who have various levels of fear-of-flying in the past. Please talk to your instructor when you come in about any fears and anxieties you have. We'll tailor your flight to help you and we'll answer any questions you have about airline flying during the flight. From our experience, de-bunking the unknowns of flying is a great help in reducing anxiety. It's been our pleasure to see customers reduce their anxiety levels and then fly as a passenger with greater confidence and less anxiety.
